Cordovan
Cordovan leather is a very different type of leather when compared to calfskin. This is why a special cream called Saphir Cordovan has been developed. This cream has a very low level of turpentine because cordovan does not respond well to solvents; this leather is stiffer and sturdier than for example calf leather.
1. Preferably, don’t wash your cordovan leather shoes, if it’s really necessary to remove some dirt, only use a lukewarm moist cotton cloth. From time to time, a leather conditioner, such as Saphir Lotion or Saphir Renovateur can be used to remove old layers of polish. However, it’s important not to use these products too often. They contain dissolvent and cordovan shoes do not always respond that well.
2. Use an applicator brush or cloth to evenly apply the Saphir Cordovan cream and let dry until the surface appears to be mat.
3. Now, remove the remaining cream by brushing out with a quality horsehair brush until a light shine appears, the cordovan cream has done its job.
4. To finish your shoes shining bright like a diamond, use a combination of Saphir Mirror Gloss and Saphir Pate de Luxe to create a beautiful mirror shine.
5. Last but not least, to also give your leather soles a treatment and make them last longer, use Saphir Sole Guard to protect against wear and tear. Keep your sole edges up to date by using Saphir Pate de Luxe, to also make them shine lightly. Apply the product by using a cotton cloth, let dry and brush out.
